Proactively provide information related to capacity planning, monitoring, and investment forecasting. Works closely with peer team leaders to improve speed-to-deliver, customer satisfaction, and solution parity. This individual will create and reinforce best practices for all virtual infrastructures. Be a centralized point of contact for inquiries, education, incidents, improvements, and product recommendations that help to automate on-boarding, monitor performance, and increase self-service capabilities. Design operational processes, and related documentation/diagrams, for stakeholders and team members. Continuously train engineers, peer teams, and desktop support teams as support models evolve. JOB DUTIES – INCLUDES PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ONLY · Leads projects associated with the role. · Under limited supervision plans, designs, builds, administrates, and troubleshoots VDI issues and services. · As required gather new audience requirements related to VDI · Discuss, understand and recommend best placement of virtual desktops by staying current with networking changes, LAN/WAN challenges, and destination limitations · Assist in identifying SLA requirements related to VDI · As required, create documented recommendations around selected solutions · Work in new technology requirements and or needs, as related to VDI. · Assist with other projects as assigned · Investigate, recommend, document requirements and perform POC on new technology offerings SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If Applicable) This position will lead a small team of engineers, but will not have managerial responsibility related to performance reviews, time off approvals, and the alike JOB REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS Job Related Experience · Must be comfortable answering questions about the below requirements of the position, talk clearly to a panel of engineers during an interview, and calmly explain experiences – hands-on experiences will be thoroughly examined · A minimum of two (2) solid years leading small high-performance and high-demand team · A minimum of two (2) solid years supporting virtual desktop infrastructures (VMware View preferred), desktop operating systems (Windows XP/7 preferred), and application virtualization (VMware Thinapp preferred) · A minimum of five (5) years supporting VMware ESX · A minimum of five (5) years supporting and building Windows 2003/2008 servers · A minimum of five (5) years supporting and provisioning servers on VMware ESX infrastructure · A minimum of (2) years utilizing Microsoft Active Directory · Experience troubleshooting networking issues using systematic approach, tracking and documenting status, and explaining to peers and upper management root-cause and resolution · Experience with SAN technologies, LUN allocations, and/or disk management best practices · Experience with SSL-VPN technology a plus · Must know how to use Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, and Outlook to perform daily duties General Skills · The ability to successfully and positively interact with internal and external clients · The ability to express complex ideas to non-technical people, as needed. · Strong verbal and written communication skills; must work well in a t   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
