The person hired for the contract position of UX Design Principal or Senior UX Design Manager will work with cross-functional teams to create user-centered designs and workflows in support of programs of major importance across 3M Industrial Business Group. The person in this role will lead and support on experience and visual design to bring to life experience strategies, applications, user interface platform/ ecosystems; define visual design principles and language for digital interface that express the 3M brand; and identify visual user interface requirements, create guidelines and define design approach. Major Duties & Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Lead experience design development that delivers on business strategy and customers unmet needs Identify customer pain points and translate insights into actionable design direction Lead cross-functional teams in a broad diversity of design developments and business initiatives. Lead design projects from conception to implementation securing client and/or business participation. Formulate business and design goals & objectives; translate these in design programs / projects Advise and consult with Leadership and Design Teams to set short to medium design directions and operating plans. Identify and creatively manage suitable 3rd party partners. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to influence peers and key stakeholders Team worker, passionate, high engagement level, stretching the boundaries Supports multiple projects in parallel; organize and manage assignments in a dynamic environment Manage development of world-class user interfaces and visual designs from concept to execution for web-based products and mobile applications Assesses and directs iterations of rapid prototypes via customer feedback Advocates for the customers needs throughout design development, while maintaining design integrity Critical contributor to customer journey map development, insight extraction and design direction Awareness and confidence within ethnographic research methods, synthesis and application Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in a graphic design, visual communications or other design discipline from an accredited university A minimum of 7 combined years of experience working with and in diverse brand touch points, industries and/or geographies.
