Job Description Engineer: Mainframe Programming, Cobol, Data Dictionaries,

Description:

1. Reviewing, understanding and implementing defined customer requirements.
2. Reviewing, understanding and correcting identified problem.
3. Testing and verification of operation consistent with user requirements.
4. Source Code meeting ITD quality standards and in conformance with established procedures.
5. Release of object code meeting ITD quality standards and in conformance with established procedures.
6. Interacting with technical and non-technical staff as needed in the execution of the above.

Required Skills:

1. 5 years mainframe programming experience, including, Developing, reading and understanding COBOL programs and data dictionaries; Understanding of data type storage concepts and data communication between disparate systems; Programming of major enhancement features and bug fixes to existing systems.
2. Ability to communicate technically (verbally and in writing) with other developers, system architects and technical managers is crucial.
3. Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) with non-technical business subject matter experts, stakeholders and project managers for clarifications, to define rules, and to provide explanations is critical.
4. Prior experience with the following systems is a must, including Work ticket management system – Helpstar or LanDesk; Datacom database; Gener/OL CICS application generation system; Panvalet and Roscoe development environments; Datapoint experience highly desired.
