OT - Extra Hours on Weekdays and Saturdays

*** Double Time is paid at 2.0 times
DT - Hours worked on Sundays

Computer Operator

Perform the following responsibilities under general supervision:
? Initiate normal system tasks unassisted.
? Remain current on major Unisys and vendor related operating system commands.
? Learn and apply new technologies in an acceptable timeframe.
? Be proficient at understanding the basics of product lines and pre-determined deadlines.
? Communicate problems to management, requiring minimal assistance to resolve. Keep accurate notes on issue resolution in order to provide expedient solutions in the future.
? Operate multiple product lines simultaneously.
? Assume responsibility to train or mentor newer or lesser-seasoned employees setting high standards of conduct and work ethics for others.
? Make sound suggestions on how to improve a product line by documenting the suggestions and articulating them to either the Lead Operator or Shift Manager.
? Possess extreme familiarity with the operation of all hardware and peripheral equipment related to the position. (Tape drives, disk pack, CD burners, etc)
? Pull and prepare magnetic tape media for daily processing according to set guidelines and audit controls.
? Thoroughly understand the normal hardware and software recovery process.
? Follow and understand documented procedures to arrive at the desired end result for hardware and software recoveries.
? Log and report problems identified throughout the shift utilizing a defined “problem tracking and reporting mechanism”; assist in problem identification and resolution.
? Possess basic understanding of FEP commands and be comfortable with intermediate online restarts.
? Trouble-shoot online performance issues, requiring assistance only when complex situations arise.
? Interpret online monitoring tools and understand the normal transactional trending to identify when something out-of-norm occurs.
? Bring User codes and Databases online and offline.
? Fully understand and meet all file delivery commitments.
? Articulate thoughts clearly and handle client calls efficiently.
? Possess basic understanding of telecommunication equipment required to perform duties.
? Manage file transfer completion and detect and correct abends.
? Clearly communicate concerns to co-workers and management in a professional manner.
? Basic monitoring of open system back-up jobs.

UNISYS operating experience preferred. IBM experience and/or distributed computer operations experience is acceptable, and working experience with workload automation tools. Financial Industry knowledge is very helpful.
The focus of the first 12 months in this position will be to train on daily Unisys console operations for Premier and Cleartouch. By the end of the year the Incumbent should be able to understand application processing, and console operation duties for our two major lines of business.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
This position will use on-the-job training. The Incumbent will need to be able to take good notes and be able to review documentation and use it in the performance of this job.
