Job Description DBA: Db2 dba, QA, SQL,

Description:

This position is for individuals who have the proven ability to perform DBA tasks specific to DB2 z/OS independently and reliably. Normal assignments will consist of designing, implementing, and maintaining the physical aspects of database structures to support an OLTP batch environment and on-call responsibilities for resolution of production problems.

Primary Responsibilities:



· Performs the following DBA tasks specifically in the DB2 z/OS environment: physical database design, creation and maintenance of database objects, database backup and recovery, security, database configuration and performance tuning, database standards enforcement, tools evaluation, and production system support.

· Provides assistance to application developers on efficient SQL coding.

· Performs necessary follow-up with IS staff to ensure any newly implemented database designs are performing satisfactorily.

· Supports Test, QA and Production database Environments

· Provides for database data integrity and recoverability.

· Implements database security to satisfy regulatory and business requirements.

· Determines performance bottlenecks and applies tuning techniques to address root cause.

· Monitors database capacity and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.

· Creates, maintains, and enforces database standards.

· Promptly resolves any production issues based on severity.

· Ensures proper procedures are followed for database changes consistent with audit requirements.

· Provides help and mentoring to DBA teammates.

· Assists in database release migration.

Qualifications:



· Five plus years of DB2 DBA experience specifically in the IBM mainframe environment.

· Preferable to have good working experience with Linux/Unix/Windows, DB2 Connect, DB2 clients setup and configuration, and ODBC and JBDC.

· Preferable to have good working knowledge of the DB2 Data Sharing environment

· Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.

· Experience with supporting retail business systems is a plus.
