Candidates must be able to work remotely and independently (company based in Oakland, CA) The contractor developer(s) will be working directly with the vendor development team to execute design and development tasks. The contractors will also report to a technical lead on the ASSIST support team and will provide regular updates to the ASSIST Project Manager. Responsibilities: -Develop code 70 %: Develop code using the Microsoft .net technology stack and front-end scripting (HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS) for applications and web services. Conduct unit tests and quality checks of delivered applications and services. Utilize the teams software development strategy, coding standards, code management process, and build process. -Plan, design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate complex software for functional areas. -Analyze functional requirements documentation prepared by business and systems analysts. Work closely with analysts to gain a detailed understanding of functional requirements. Modules include front-end online and back-end data processes. Perform complex data analysis and test/debug complex software. -Analyze the design and use of complex data sources. Apply moderately complex programming security practices. -Design Application Modules 10%: Create technical documents as needed. The specifications may include: UML diagrams; specification of methods and algorithms; database design; XML schema design; and development of test cases. -Participate in QA testing 10%: Understand and apply industry practices, community standards and department policies and procedures relating to work assignments. Work closely with QA and client testers. Investigate bug reports, modify specifications and code as necessary, and document all activity. -Client Interaction 10%: Consult with ASSIST client team to understand functional business needs and expectations as they pertain to development activities. Job Requirements: -Bachelors Degree in computer sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. -3-5 years recent system analysis and programming work experience in enterprise-level web application environments. -Expertise in C#, MVC 5, SQL Server 2012, Entity Framework 6.0, MS-SQL, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, HTML. -Experience programming web-based applications, batch processes, and web services. -Experience and success working within an agile/scrum development methodology. -Superior problem solving skills with the ability to solve complex problems, and determine root causes of issues with minimal direction. Knowledge of how to dissect code to quickly learn how features are implemented, the structure of the code with respect to application features and code/data relationships, and the ability to work through problems when confronted with roadblocks to provide reliable solutions to such problems. -Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. -Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and experience applying these skills to resolve complex business process and application design considerations. -Expertise in object-oriented design and database design.
