Wilder is a residential facility housing youth in the juvenile justice system, with current population being approximately 40 youth. Medical care would include performing routine exams (EPSDTs) with appropriate screening labs as needed; evaluating and treating routine illnesses and injuries in this age group; follow-up checks when needed; determining when a youth needs to be seen by an outside specialist; and determining when a youth needs to be seen urgently or emergently at an urgent care or hospital. In addition, the physician will be responsible for making sure standing orders, nursing protocols, and clinical protocols are all up-to-date. It is expected that the physician will be on site at least one day a week and available by phone during the rest of the week for questions or concerns. The number of those extra phone calls is highly variable, averaging 2-6 per week. The physician may delegate their duties to another medical provider or mid level practitioner practicing under their clinical supervision. A mid level practitioner such as NP or PA may be considered for this position if they have appropriate experience and supervision.
