This position will act as a subject matter expert for the statewide Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) program project aimed to educate and promote the importance that Tennessees frontline staff in dialysis centers, particularly in rural settings, receive the COVID-19 vaccine and to enroll additional sites as vaccine providers that are not already enrolled. Our goal is to encourage dialysis staff to educate, promote, and engage in conversations with their dialysis patients about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The Dialysis Nurse will also serve as part of the team on HAI/AR programs dialysis initiative. The goal of this initiative is to reduce the number of dialysis bloodstream infections (BSIs) in TN dialysis facilities by developing a Hemodialysis Infection Prevention Simulation Training capacity involving the states certified infection control experts. The dialysis nurse will participate in all aspects of the project including project establishment, recruiting, and conduct. The need for this role comes from new activities as granted in the recent SHARP and STIP grants. The individual contracted will use their experience in Dialysis facilities to advise the facility of best practice and will conduct safety assessments and provide recommendations within these facilities. The planned breakdown of the role will be 50% developing and delivering training, educational, and promotional materials targeting Dialysis facilities. 30% will be spent conducting site identification, recruitment, and outreach. The remaining 20% will be spent conducting on-site facility assessments for safety and procedural issues. The employed individual will work from the TDHs central office and be placed under the supervision of the STIP coordinator. Job Duties Include: • Assisting with the enrolment of dialysis facilities to be vaccine providers • Conduct infection control visits in dialysis facilities in accordance with CDC tools • Foster relationships with dialysis facilities and advocacy groups • With assistance, design and execute a BSI-prevention training plan focused on dialysis facilities • Monitor, collect, and analyze healthcare-associated infections as reported by dialysis facilities into the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) • Preparing and delivering reports, scientific articles, and presentations on HAIs and surveillance trends to local, state, and national partners • Participate in HAI- and MDRO-related projects, including an Emerging Infections Program (EIP) point prevalence study of HAIs and antimicrobial use, onsite and remote validation of HAI data, and other special projects as needed.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
