Description:

The IT Support Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Technology Support Services provides quality IT service to a diverse group of users across the University. This position interacts daily with clients who have varying levels of technical expertise and provide them with excellent support and consulting services. The IT Support Specialist serves as a participating member of the IT Service Desk team, documents procedures. This position also contributes to the Division of Information Technology projects, coordinates resources in support of the clients diverse business goals, and responsible for specific support areas as assigned (i.e. workstation inventory, management of help desk ticket system, specialized hardware & software support).

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

• Minimum of two years of experience working at a help desk and providing second-level support in the field.
• Knowledge of all current Windows operating systems, including the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot system problems, application problems, and networking problems.
• Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows network account and share management.
• Knowledge of the Macintosh computer and operating system, including the ability to troubleshoot system problems, networking problems, application problems, etc.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Knowledge of Cloud collaborative technologies such as Office 365, specifically OneDrive for Business and SharePoint.
• Familiarity with Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Chrome web browsers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; including customer service and telephone skills.
• Ability to develop and training workshops or online learning modules.

Preferred:

• Experience in a higher education environment.
• Scripting experience. Knowledge of C#, Windows Scripting Host, VBA, VBscript, HTA and Windows PowerShell preferred.
• Experience training and supervising student employees.
• Experience managing computer assets on a large scale, including creating and implementing replacement plans.
• Experience in conducting group or individualized training.
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
