As a member of the my|CalPERS Application Engineering & Architecture (AEA) unit, the consultant(s) will undertake duties and responsibilities as an Application Architect and Senior Developer and provide ongoing application development and support of the my|CalPERS and all of its sub system which were written in Java, Microsoft and php technologies. The work primarily involves the understanding the business problems and providing solutions that are technically feasible, aligned with existing enterprise and my|CalPERS architecture and meets the needs of the business users. The consultant(s) will be act as Application Architect and a Senior Java developer/lead and will be responsible for system defect analysis and resolution; review the design of the other developers to ensure solution meets the solution/architecture guidelines set by AEA unit. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing analytical work; defining technical requirements; creating or updating existing technical design artifacts for online, batch, report and interface processes, business rules, forms; analyzing data and providing SQL data fixes and database structure changes, and participate in implementation and release communication activities. Senior Technical Specialist/Lead: Functions at the expert level performing analytical work in the design and development of architecture strategy, oversees the implementation of technical infrastructure and technology, and provides the architectural direction and guidance to enterprise systems, and may act in a lead capacity or may participate with other analysts on projects of a complex nature or broad scope. • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming; at least three (3) years of said experience shall have included responsibility on a project basis for analyzing operational methods and developing computer programs to meet desired results, at least two (2) years of said experience must have been at a high level both technically and in measure of responsibility. • Must have knowledge of electronic computer programming; electronic data processing equipment and its capabilities; principles and techniques of studying work processes for new or revised electronic computer applications; principles of designing methods of processing data; technical report writing; statistical methods. • Must have the ability to write complex programs and develop detailed program specifications; analyze data and situations, reason logically and creatively, identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions. • Must have the ability to apply creative thinking in the design and development of methods of processing data. • Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents. • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience developing, maintaining and enhancing complex and innovative programs using Java (J2EE), JSP/Servlets, JavaScript, JDBC, BEA Weblogic • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience developing, maintaining and enhancing complex and innovative programs using XML, CSS, HTML and   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
