Job Description Administrator: IBM MQseries, JDBC, Unix, Websphere JMS HTTP

Responsibilities:
Systems Engineer II WebSphere Administrator
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Coordinates and implements builds and application deployments for WebSphere applications on a scheduled basis;
* monitors performance of critical system applications and resolves operational problems in accordance with corporate guidelines;
* assists application development staff with the architecture and development of WebSphere and MQSeries eCommerce applications;
* installs and maintains WebSphere and related software on UNIX and Windows platforms;
* manages WebSphere configurations.
* Some of these activities must be performed outside normal business hours and on weekends to minimize the impact to our customers. There are 24x7 on-call responsibilities.

* Ensures that all software or systems for which they are responsible are monitored and tuned to ensure acceptable levels of performance and resource utilization
* Ensures that the software is utilizing all appropriate functions and features
* Timely and accurate reporting on performance, utilization and feature use as requested.
* Provides technical assistance to Operations and the Help Desk in order to resolve test production schedules or problems.
* Provides project management regarding all technical aspects of implementing projects/major release upgrades, which includes: properly following a project life cycle, the development of project plan, all appropriate documentation and notifications are completed in order to obtain resolution within the established timeframes.
* Performs installation of software and hardware in a timely manner in keeping with current release levels. * * * Tests software thoroughly prior to moving into production and well as adhering to all notification and change control procedures.
* Provides Supervisory functions to include the management of performance plans and reviews.

Requirements:
* This position requires a BA/BS in Computer Science and 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer. Equivalent experience supporting complex and critical IT environments will be evaluated in lieu of these requirements where applicable.
extensive WebSphere Application Server Administration experience using WebSphere versions 7.x and 8.x in a multi-node, clustered UNIX (AIX) and/or Windows environment.
understanding of MQSeries and JMS administration in support of a WebSphere Application Server infrastructure.
understanding of Security and JDBC configurations.
experience troubleshooting and resolving problems related to WebSphere applications, HTTP, and general eCommerce infrastructure anomalies.
advanced UNIX skills. Candidates must be capable of completing administration tasks without GUI toolsets.
excellent oral and written communication skills
providing support outside normal office hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm), including weekends and holidays
