Job Description Engineer: JMS, Dot Net, MQ, Architecting Kafka Development Testing B

Candidate must be our W2 Employee.

Job Description: Open to full remote contractor

Project Overview:

Contractor will be working to migrate IBM MQ older version 7.5/8.0 that is out of support to a new version of 9.2 or Solace. This will require moving over about 60 apps. The engineer will be building the platform and then moving the apps.

Contractors Role:

Northern Trust Enterprise Middleware Service team is looking for a senior messaging system engineer to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot the banks rapidly expanding IBM MQ and Solace messaging infrastructure. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Experience Level:

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Minimum of 6 to 10 years of IBM MQ and Solace administration experience

Qualifications:

The following are required skills:

• 5+ years of experience with messaging API developer support ( JMS, dotNet etc.)

• 5+ years of architecting, designing and administration of IBM MQ including Pub/Sub

• 3+ years of architecting, designing and administration of Solace

• 5+ years of scripting for deployment and configuration

• 5+ years troubleshooting unexpected IBM MQ and Solace problems

• 3+ years of experience with DevOps and automation required

• Prior Java programming skill is a plus

• Knowledge of Kafka messaging system is a plus

• Manage all environments (Development, Testing and Production) of IBM MQ/solace

• Install, configure and provide support for functional and performance testing of additional features of modern messaging system.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Work with application developers in POCs to design solutions with novel and advanced product features

• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability by monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes

• Design and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies

• Design of expansion of current cluster and integration of existing cluster with cloud

• Architect the roadmap for messaging systems in the bank

• Provide 3rd level support and act as a technical leader of offshore support team

• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
