The Sr Info Security Engineer provides expert security engineering approaches for IT Infrastructure. The evaluation, design, build, and documentation of solutions are at the core of the systems engineers service catalog. Info Security Engineers coordinate and implement security technology to regulate access to computer and network resources, as well as work to prevent unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure of information assets. Additionally, Info Security Engineers oversee and evaluate IT systems for compliance with regulatory requirements and ensures continuous process improvement throughout IT by developing detailed configuration standards, incident analysis and response procedures. As senior member of the team, the Info Security Engineer provides mentorship and technical expertise to less experienced engineers. Also responsible for developing strong peer relationships with Enterprise Architects, working together for solution designs that meet the technology roadmap for the enterprise. Responsibilities: 1. Applies advanced understanding of INCITS, ISO/IEC, W3C, and IEEE engineering and technology standards 2. Provides relevant security and compliance oversight of technology during architecture design, installation, and on-going maintenance. This includes all computing resources implemented, owned, or used by the company. 3. Evaluates any proposed technology solution for adherence to documented company standards, policies, and regulatory responsibilities. 4. Performs risk assessments and penetration-testing on proposed technology solutions; create risk statements, summaries and presentations for management so that risks can be escalated to the proper level for corrective action. 5. Act as a technical contributor with advanced knowledge and experience in one or more areas: a. Networking with WAN technologies (Frame relay, PPP, MLPS) b. Networking with LAN technologies (VLANs, QoS, Spanning Tree, VoIP technologies). c. Security Systems such as Application and Network Firewalls (Layer-7 and Cisco PIX and ASAs), host and network based IDS/IPS systems; Security Information Event Management systems such as Prism, Trigeo, ArcSight, SenSage, Cisco Security MARS, Snare and others. d. Relational Database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and DB2 e. Operating Systems such as Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x (and other UNIX variants), and OS/390. 6. Reviews and approve IT security threat assessments for major changes to systems, applications and networks. This requires applying knowledge of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools. 7. Maintains current expertise in security hacks and network penetration methods. Defines and documents defensive tactics. Defines and oversees implementation plans for security configuration changes. 8. Provides advanced technical analysis and evidence capture as Level 3 technical support for security incident response. 9. Conducts impact assessments for security patches and oversees implementation of recommended patches. 10. Defines IT policies, standards and procedures to assure technical compliance with enterprise security policies and promote consistent use of best practices in information security.
