Implementing cloud based system architecture with appropriate security, backup and recovery processes will be the major focus of this position in the first year. Responsibilities: Propose improvements to the system architecture in the Amazon Cloud and maintain the overall architecture in a cost efficient manner. Develop and maintain scripts to automate creation of new server configurations. Install, modify and maintain Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Linux/Unix operating systems in the Amazon Cloud or other cloud architecture. Install and maintain security configurations on servers. Setup, monitor and respond to security related alerts. Responsible for system and database (MSSQL and MySQL) backups and all recovery procedures. Must demonstrate all recovery procedures are effective, efficient and functional. Document system specifications (topologies, dependencies, etc.) Oversee the healthy operation of multiple web applications in production environments. Create and maintain a secure office network. Install, modify and support Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac operating systems and other support software on workstations. Provide technical support for workstations, networks and our web applications. Including installation troubleshooting. Analyze business problems to be solved with automated systems. Propose, design and implement such systems. Upgrade, install & configure database driven web applications. Upgrade, install & configure web containers (IIS, Tomcat, etc.), perform web application/server troubleshooting. Assist with load testing of applications by monitoring server performance, identifying and removing bottlenecks. Monitor, maintain and improve the performance of MSSQL and MySQL databases. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in engineering, equivalent training or certification. 3+ years of work experience as a systems administrator. Advanced Linux, Apache, MySQL expertise and troubleshooting skills. General Windows Server 2003+ operating system expertise and troubleshooting skills. Sound understanding of backup and restore mechanisms. Organizational skills and attention to detail is critical. Excellent written and communication skills.
