Use knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help plan and install internal and external networks. Test, monitor, and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Perform system backups on internal network servers. Design and support server system(s), local area switching/routing, and supporting software. Assist in providing cost benefit analysis, network designs and system integration to accommodate future network growth. This analysis should include required hardware, network protocols (BGP, OSPF, IEGRP), available IP assignments (when appropriate), security considerations, route/switch installation configurations, and coordinating the pricing for leasing/purchasing of available data lines. III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Install, configure, and maintain network - To ensure network capabilities can satisfy business requirements and objectives. To provide early warning when additional user requirements over task network capacity and identify required problem resolutions. Install, configure, and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, IDP/S devices, and all related network devices. Network Administration - To provide user required services across the network. Ensure access lists are maintained to ensure integrity of user authorized data. Install/support security systems and software - To provide appropriate levels of access to Travel and Transport business users while ensuring that business data remains secure and private to those not requiring access Maintain good attendance record. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties: Coordinate the installation activities of others to ensure that new servers, workstations, etc. are integrated correctly into the network design. Ensure that current policies are followed to maintain network naming conventions and IP addressing standards. Train new employees on existing network policies and existing topologies. This individual will serve as a mentor/resource to lower level technicians. This position will not have responsibility for selecting personnel, appraising performance, or taking disciplinary action. Strong customer service skills and good oral and written communications are a must to perform this job. Minimum of 3-5 years in a Cisco environment as a hands-on day to day Network Engineer. CCNP preferred but not required. Familiar with common routing protocols, VPN configuration and troubleshooting, MPLS configuration and maintenance, and QOS related to VOIP. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This will include researching specific technology, meeting with vendors, obtaining price quotes, designing, managing, and implementing project. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations. Must have sound analytical and problem solving skills. V.
