NEtApp Cisco san RAID SCSI SATA CIFS Engineer (Jobs in DARNESTOWN, MD)   Requirement id 7349 Job title Engineer Job location in DARNESTOWN, MD Skills required Information Technology, NEtApp, Cisco, san RAID SCSI SATA CIFS Open Date 17-Nov-2011 Close Date Job type Contract Duration 6 Months Compensation DOE Status requirement --- Job interview type ---    Email Recruiter: coolsoft Job Description Engineer: Information Technology, NEtApp, Cisco, san RAID SCSI SATA CIFS [Note : Start Date : 11-28-2011 End Date : 05-31-2012] Description : Job Description : * The Sr. Storage Engineer/Storage Architect, will be responsible for architecture and engineering of the Storage and Data Protection platforms for Cisco UCS/NetAPP FlexPod . * The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring carrier grade availability of the storage infrastructure by developing and deploying current and next generation Storage solutions, and by participating with peers in the management of Storage infrastructure. * This individual will have extensive relative and recent experience architecting, designing, engineering, and operating a mid - large enterprise storage environment, and understand the rigors associated with providing highly available, highly redundant solutions in a dynamic, 24x7 environment. * This individual will understand and be able to consistently deliver against the full product development lifecycle for storage infrastructure to ensure current and future needs of the environment are met. * This individual will work closely with the Storage Engineering team, and with managers and senior technical individuals across the organization and the company in pursuit of these goals. Position Responsibilities : * Architect, plan, design, and execute on Storage infrastructure related projects and programs. * Act as a top level escalation point with responsibility for maintaining the highest levels of Storage infrastructure availability. * Determine and develop the next-generation of Storage architecture and design, including full responsibility for creating and publishing Architectural standards and design documents, working closely with Storage Engineering for acceptance for architecture in Operations. * Work closely with architects in other technical disciplines to determine the appropriate architectures for new products, and designs for utilizing existing architectures for incremental projects. * Engage with engineers and management across the technology stack including network, database, application, and datacenter to design and maintain centralized and decentralized SAN, NAS, and DFS data stores. * Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate vendors, including new technology selection. * Participate, as needed, in engineering and operational roles appropriate for a storage engineer including oncall rotation, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. * In concert with the head of capacity planning for Infrastructure Engineering, perform capacity planning including allocating storage, and planning future expansion requirements. * Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for architectural reviews, design review, and technology selection with respect to the Storage environment * Establishes guidelines for production, staging, QA, and development environments. * Architect and design backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning solutions. Skills : * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. * Strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a diversified workload with deadlines with widely varying time horizons * Demonstrated ability to write and present effective materials, including presentations, status reports, technical diagrams, and flowcharts * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, including senior technical peers, external clients, and engineers at all levels. * Demonstrated ability to use problem solving techniques to identify, scope, and resolve difficult, intermittent, and other senior level technical issues. * Demonstrated ability to deliver next-generation solutions from concept to product delivery.
