Description :

Overview:

* 9+ years of experience with Linux, Solaris and other flavors of UNIX.
* Can be either Linux or Solaris but this is a core function they should already have experience with

* 9+ years of experience with Oracle technologies (Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, partitioning, security, performance tuning, memory management, SQL tuning, statistics gathering, Application audit logs, Scheduling, etc.)
* Need to know Data Guard no question – RAC/ASM as well – understand properties of them

* 8+ years of experience in utilizing performance tuning tools like Explain plan, AWR, Grid control or similar technologies. Understand and interpret the reports generated from tools and resolve performance issues.

* 8+ years of experience in backup and recovery, application patching, cloning, maintenance and problem solving within the Oracle 11g and 12c environments.

* 9+ years of experience in leading and supporting upgrade activities within the Oracle 11g and Oracle 12c.

* Unix and perl scripting experience required
Wont be writing new scripts but need to be able to do that and need to have a good understanding of scripting knowledge

* 7+ years of experience with Med (500G) to Large (10 TB) sized databases

* Must be strong in analyzing how Oracle resources are being used during SQL executions.

* 3+ years of experience with Golden Gate
Have they taken production databases, installed, configured, set up a replicated production system before using Golden Gate? Have you moved a database from one server to another using Golden Gate? Huge initiative for them right now transitioning to new DataCenter and dont have golden gate installed and need help with installations during the migration initiative

Additional Notes:

Moving toward Oracle 12C
How it works – pluggable containers and databases – What is it? Explain your exp

They are called “Line of Business DBAs” – “OLDBA” – application dev exp will help team so they can get more out of the resource and work directly with App teams
App Dev experience will be an added benefit
If no app dev exp – then really knows Exa Data or 12C and how it works

Pluggable database concepts
Need to learn how to do things with restricted access
May not be able to log into servers anymore – do from more of a desktop client view – if experienced you will be able to adjust

Previous WF Exp is HUGE!!!! They will take priority over others

Let me know their top 3 strengths as a DBA – Josh wants to know so he knows how to use them on his team

7 DBAs on the team – aligns project scope based off strengths (Scripting, Dev)
