Job Summary: The person hired for the position Data Analyst/Report Engineer will primarily be responsible for analysis, development, testing, implementation, and enhancement and maintenance of the reporting area of a Java/J2EE application. The analyst/developer receives requests for new reports, modifications or enhancements to existing reports, as well as requests for raw informational data from queries and must respond to helpdesk tickets for report defects. The analyst/developer is responsible for requirements gathering, analysis, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of all of the reports and other output created by the reporting team members, as well as documentation for each item. In addition, the analyst/developer must understand the complete business flow and be able to offer suggestions for database design and/or ETL processes necessary to meet reporting needs. We are looking for confident self-starters that can get up to speed and be productive quickly in a fast moving environment. Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Ability to gather requirements, design, create and implement reports, queries and enhancement requests quickly in response to frequently changing customer requests. - Respond in a timely manner to helpdesk defects. - Be able to thoroughly analyze the business domain model and efficiently extract appropriate data in readable formats for end users. - Ability to identify needs of reporting during requirements phase of application development and suggest additions/modifications to the data model and/or system functionality necessary to meet reporting data requirements. - Ability to perform complete data analysis of a system issue given very little information, trace the data back to the root of the problem, and provide detailed analysis for client in a format readable by non-technical users. - Must have excellent communication, analysis, and design skills to infer the requesters intended meaning of each request and interface with the client to resolve any issues or make any clarifications on the front end of the request. - Must be able to function in a chaotic production environment and be able to provide adequate support, with focus on timely and accurate resolution of issues. - Act as liaison to end users as needed. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree - Minimum 3 years of experience running SQL queries. Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Computer science/Computer engineering / Electrical engineering (Q). - Minimum 3 years combined experience working with multiple key relational database management system (RDBMS) platforms and related tools such as SQL Server, Oracle and/or DB2. - Experience designing and writing reports using Jaspersoft Technologies (Q). - Experience with Jasper Server/IReports or comparable B.I. software platform. - Experience utilizing advanced Crystal Reports development is desired. - Experience with data modeling and ETL concepts to process requests that cannot feasibly be met with current production database design. - Ability to read a complex data model, quickly learn the flow of data through the application/database and apply this knowledge to create accurate results for data analysis and query/report requests. - Ability to take requirements and create documentation for reporting changes, new reports, new database structure requested, etc. - Ability to write queries to validate data when questioned by users. - Ability to migrate reports from Perl to a newer B.I. reporting platform. - Java J2EE skills with Websphere is a   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
