Job Description : Securian Financial | St. Paul, MN WebSphere Middleware Engineer 10 Month+ Contract Will be executing tasks such as: - Work with App Dev to get landscape of their current application needs, direction, timing, restrictions, etc. 4-5 teams - all of the applications are external vendor apps, not internally developed - Using our existing WAS 8.5 process - update WAS 9 instance build procedures - Using Puppet, create the infrastructure as code to build and implement WebSphere ND 9 on RHEL 7 - Using Puppet, develop the automation of the deployment of those 4-5 vendor applications - - Working with the application developers to adopt the automation and then migrating their applications to the new platform - With our future direction to move to AWS, consult with our Cloud center of excellence on the design of WebSphere on AWS - Develop/update, document and train on any processes required to support the new environment (starting with our existing processes) - Update ILMT - Evaluate the impact of Sub-capacity licensing - Provide consulting training/mentoring/support for App Development - Address any one off issues that we have not been able to dedicate time to - for example - we have an app for which one instance take significantly longer than the others to start up - Using puppet, develop monthly patching automation Required Skills: - Knowledge and experience with WebSphere ND or Network Deploy (not WAS Liberty) - Has administered WAS ND - Has built WAS ND servers - RHEL background - RHEL 7 experience - Jython or other WAS scripting languages - works with WSadmin - Has done infrastructure as code - Build automation - prefer Puppet, but as long as they have used some type of automation tooling such as Ansible, Chef, etc., they can pick up puppet - Communication and organization skills to work with our Application Development teams   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
