They should be fluent programmers and comfortable with pythonic idioms. They should understand about virtual environments and how to create and package 12-factor python apps. They should also have strong familiarity with flask. Django would also be good. > • Solid testing skills. They should know how to write good unit and functional tests. They should understand code quality and be able to evaluate good code. Ideally, they would also have experience with performance testing. > • Ability to work well with and mentor others. They will be working on a cross-functional team and will be required to enhance the effectiveness of the entire team and not just be solo programmers. > • Do whatever work is needed to move things forward. There will be some scut work that they will be responsible for – the main example is writing automated acceptance tests for web services. One of their responsibilities will be to lift some of the burden of the test writing from the FTEs. > • Understanding of microservices and cloud-native applications. Work is done using kubernetes (MiniShift) on linux workstations. Understanding the fundamentals and knowing how to build applications that will be deployed into kubernetes will be helpful > • Competency with agile software development practices, including doing the simplest thing that could possibly work, shipping small bits of high quality code at regular intervals, understanding that they will not be given detailed specifications but instead should have conversations with the product owner to elicit requirements and then turn the requirements into tests. > • Git (This is the bonus thing.
