Scope of Work
The following is a list of specifications required for the Automated Network Discovery Solution
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS section of the RFP.
1. Overview
The University of North Dakota is seeking proposals for an automated network discovery solution to
model and diagram the active network. Below are the needs for the project:
? Build and maintain a database of the up-to-date network topology and underlying design, and
create dynamic network maps and information.
? Be customizable for on-demand network planning, analysis and diagnosis.
? Streamline day to day workflow, improve documentation, and aid in network design and
troubleshooting. Needs include:
? Central visibility of campus-wide network infrastructure components, configurations, and multilayered
design.
? Improved network uptime.
? Interactive real-time network mapping for timely and effective problem resolution.
? Accurate and up-to-date diagrams and documentation for effective design and efficient daily
operational network communications support.

Deliverables
The contractor will be required to provide the following deliverables;
a) Automated network discovery for dynamic mapping and access to current topology diagrams.
b) Network path discovery using accurate representation of devices and all interfaces between end
points for efficient troubleshooting.
c) As-built and dynamic documentation for active network devices, using standards such as SNMP
and command line interface commands.
d) Incremental change management of topology diagrams and network device configurations

Prior Experience
In order for offers to be considered responsive, offerors must meet the minimum prior experience
requirements. An offerors failure to meet these minimum prior experience requirements will cause its
proposal to be considered non-responsive and its proposal will be rejected. The minimum experience
requirements are: five years prior experience.

Understanding of the Project
Offerors must provide comprehensive narrative statements that illustrate their understanding of the
requirements of the project, deliverables, project schedule, and contract terms and conditions. Offerors
must also identify any pertinent issues and potential problems related to the project. Include responses to
the following:
General
1. The Offeror must list all of the platforms/products/vendors the proposed solution supports. It is
assumed that all platforms/products/vendors utilize SNMP. The Offeror must list any exceptions
in the applicable line item below. Offeror must also delineate the feature or functionality that is not
supported on a platform, product, or vendor listed below
2. UND prefers that the proposed solution not use any probes or in line devices. If the proposed
solution requires probes or in line devices the Offeror must describe in detail its purpose and
where probe or in line device would be placed.
3. Offeror must describe in detail the hardware and software required to implement the proposed
solution.
4. Offeror must describe in detail their ability to scale the proposed solution.
5. Offeror must describe in detail how the proposed solution provides delegation and role based
user administration.
System Overview
1. Offeror must describe in detail how the proposed solution visualizes network performance metrics
in real-time, consolidating topology, traffic & events in a unified view.
2. Offeror must describe in detail how the proposed solution tracks, analyzes, manages and predicts
problems to meet service quality commitments and help improve capacity utilization.
