Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and updating web content, performing site cleanup, performing website design, identifying and fixing broken links, SEO optimization, developing website policies and best practices, custom coding, developing content strategy, providing input on user experience, and other duties as assigned. The Web Designer will design, develop, implement, and maintain website interfaces for Atlanta Public Schools external web pages. The position will work closely with the web application development team through the requirements gathering, design, and implementation phases of the SDLC. The right resource will create web site layouts and design standards that highlight specified site content. The resource will also be responsible for creating a consistent user experience across all webpages. The position requires working with local school administrators and teachers to assist in updating their school website content. The resource will also be required to work along side central office personnel to help maintain and update their content. They will serve as the design point of contact for stakeholders; gather design requirements and resolve stakeholder feedback. This role will be responsible to continually identify improvements to current website design and layouts where necessary through the use of industry design best practices. This position reports to Communications and Public Engagement. Key Responsibilities: Update outdated or inaccurate content on webpages Identify for removal old or inactive pages Develop a formal website policy and best practices manual for the District Scan the site daily to identify and resolve broken links and formatting issues Custom-code solutions in user experience design in the Blackboard template Review all District department webpages to identify ones not on the District server Work with the District web team on a plan to place all Department webpages are on the District server Perform search engine optimization (SEO) Clean up and remove outdated information on the internet available through Google, Yahoo, etc., including scrubbing old logos, old photos, etc. Monitoring and analyzing site performance Updating website content and reviewing SEO Review website statistics and monitor analytics Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency on the Blackboard platform Previous experience as a Webmaster or Web Developer Understanding of web analytics Familiar with web content management systems such as Wordpress or Sitefinity Understanding of search engine optimization and current best practices Familiar with current web standards Knowledge of tools for website management Analytical Excellent interpersonal skills Strong communication abilities Able to analyze traffic metrics and report on them Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication Working knowledge of full SDLC Understand and operate within PM principles HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, CS   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
