Job Description Tester: Mainframe Programming, SDLC, Unix,

Description Minimize section
Consults with client and IT management and staff throughout the project life cycle, to assist and support the design, development and implementation of effective systems.

Leads teams to perform testing across multiple Mainframe and Network infrastructure projects.

Analyzes infrastructure changes to identify impact and determine the most efficient method of testing that will ensure a high (coverage) quality deliverable. Provides guidance in the creation of standard test strategy, environments, tests plans and test scripts.

Prepares and conducts acceptance testing of new or modified applications/systems.

Analyzes, designs new or modified testing procedures and standards.

Participate in the review of new QA software and consults with SMEs and client areas in resolving questions during the testing process.

Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Provides resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems.

Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.

Responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects and reporting to the PM on progress.

Works under limited direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives.

Represents the organization as the principal customer contact on contracts and often performs project leadership role.

Interacts with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters frequently requiring coordination across organizational lines.

College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred. Typically has 6 - 10 years related experience.

Skills:

This position requires a solid team leader who is a critical thinker and detail oriented.

Candidates should display strong verbal and written communication and a pro-active demeanor.

The abilities to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage a dynamically changing workload are important.

The candidate should operate effectively in a rapidly changing environment and embrace change.

A good understanding of testing fundamentals and efficiency strategies is key.

The candidate should also have prior experience with upgrade/modification projects in the space of technology infrastructure.

Must have experience with system integration, re-engineering and/or data migration projects.

- Understands the full SDLC.
- Good understanding of fundamental test design principles, techniques and strategies.
- Experience with infrastructure level projects such as system upgrades, platform and technology migrations.
- Good understanding of Risk based testing and regression strategies that focus on efficiency.
- Knowledge of Mainfame and Networks technologies.
- Ability to conduct a wide range of tests and analysis with full competency to ensure that software, systems, and services meet minimum company standards.
- Ensure code meets defined end-user (functional) and system (non-functional) requirements.
- Previous experience with automated testing.
- 3 plus years related experience as a tester and/or programmer with Mainframe.
- 2 plus years related experience as a tester and/or Sys Adim for networking solutions.
- At least 3 years experience with Test Management (preferably Quality Center) and Defect Tracking tools (preferably Rational), training and/or experience with tool administration functions preferred; familiar with Requirements Management tools and Modeling tools.
- At least 4 years Experience leading testing efforts for multiple medium to large size projects.
