Job Description Developer: Netezza Appliance Technologies, SQL Server, ETL Tools, Cognos Tuning Oracle Database Software D

Our clients information warehouse is the primary source for reporting financial,
payroll, and human resource data on programs for their entire enterprise. Contractors for this position will perform activities related to the design, development and maintenance of the Commonwealth Information Warehouse (CIW) in conformity with customer, Application Office and ITD
standards and procedures. Specific tasks will be assigned by the CIW Managers within the Enterprise Application Office (ITD). The contractor will perform duties necessary for the following: design and development of Informatica ETL mappings and workflows, coding and documentation of scripts and stored procedures and generation of reporting tables and views and will be expected to provide direction to CIW developers. An understanding of Netezza, a data warehouse appliance, and SQL Server or Oracle databases is highly desired.
These tasks include but are not limited to:
1) Become proficient on all aspects of the current CIW environment.
2) Become proficient in the current Informatica ETL job streams.
3) Responsible for building ETL streams to validate data loads.
4) Assist in the migration of current Informatica ETL job streams to the new ETL environment and make the necessary changes to ensure that incremental and a data transfer jobs work as expected.
5) Assist in the tuning of the new Informatica job streams to reduce daily load time.
6) Code and unit test modules/programs following program specifications and standards.
7) Responsible for unit testing including: documenting the test plan and documenting results of executing the test plan - if necessary develop data test sets.
8) Participate in various testing assignments including the development of detailed test plans.
9) Responsible for bug fixes and the support of end users during User Acceptance and rollout of the solution.
10) Lead/facilitate/participate in joint Application Design meetings with users and CIW staff.
11) Complete all software configuration/turnover tasks according to documented procedures and best practices.
12) Contribute comments and feedback during walkthroughs of specifications, coding and test plans, as well as other construction and implementation deliverables.
13) Cleary and concisely communicate status of all assigned tasks to management according to published workflows.
14) Keep up to date on job related technical issues, new trends and product direction and be a resource for other team members.

Qualifications:
1. Experience working as a data warehouse designer or developer using Netezza appliance technologies,
Microsoft SQL Server, Informatica (ETL) mappings and workflows or similar ETL tools is required.
2. The ability to develop or support programs using SQL.and knowledge of one or more of the following:
Informatica or similar ETL tool and Cognos or similar business intelligence tool is required.
3. A comprehensive understanding of the concepts and fundamentals of database structures and data
warehousing, including dimensional modeling, metadata, data cleansing, security, technical standards and
performance tuning, is required.
4. An understanding of data warehouse platforms and SQL Server or Oracle database management systems is
required.
5. The ability to design a solution that clearly and efficiently addresses the business objectives identified and to
create software architecture documents and models according to the system development methodology is
required,
6. Experience with a systems development life cycle methodology is highly desired.
7. Experience with all phases of testing including unit, system, integration parallel, performance and user
acceptance testing in highly desired.
8. Experience with job scheduling software (Cybermation) is desired.
9. Experience in using open source solutions and tools
