Job Description : Type: Contract Location: Charlottesville, VA * Looking for an intermediate level SQL DBA to support the on prem and cloud production databases and applications * The environment includes over 100 on prem servers (v2008-2016), some clustered * Role will be a blend of traditional SQL DBA duties as well as application admin * Projects/responsibilities will include: 1) upgrading older SQL databases via in place upgrades 2) Migrating data to Salesforce and Azure * On call required * Strong communication required Responsible for managing more than 150 on premises and more than 70 Azure SQL Servers with more than 1000+ databases varying sizes from few MB to TB. Provide SQL backup using Native SQL, Lite speed software, and Commvault. Check jobs and manage ticketing system for issues. Analyze SQL performance issues and adding indexes when necessary Support deployments Assist with data migrations for large project efforts including Salesforce and Azure. Coordinate with System engineers, deployment team and developers to upgrade SQL servers Grant permissions and create roles in SQL server and reporting servers. Migrate SQL data on premise to Azure SQL (Cloud). Create SSIS packages to move data between two servers whenever business demands. Create automated processes (SSIS package and SQL agent Job) to push data into shared locations and ftp servers. Work with PM and Development teams as needed Support and test Disaster Recovery plan for SQL servers and Salesforce application.
