Engineer will work closely with Service Managers and internal teams to ensure that all aspects of the customers ongoing system support and administration are successful. Engineer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of application flow diagrams, custom monitors, RTS (Return to Service) documents, and Knowledge base articles as needed. Engineer will be available for escalations 24x7 on an on-call basis. Conduct ongoing training for first line support personnel on their assigned customers environment. Identifies and corrects recurring technical issues within their assigned customer(s) environments. Advises customer and acts as their SME (subject matter expert) for their environment for ongoing upgrades and infrastructure improvements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 10+ years solid experience in UNIX or UNIX like operating systems administration using one or more of the operating systems below: Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Intel x86-64 Solaris 9 or 10 on Intel X86-64 or SPARC FreeBSD, OpenBSD HP-UX or IBM AIX 7+ years large environment experience working with enterprise server platforms; preferably HP Proliant, IBM xSeries, and Sun Microsystems. 7+ years general UNIX system administration experience. 5+ years experience in VMware/SAN products, hands on experience with Cisco UCS is desired. 5+ years workflow and system administration task automation experience using scripting language such as PERL and UNIX shells. Hands on experience with data center orchestration and configuration management tools such as CHEF or Puppet is desired. 5+ years of experience in support of and administration with UNIX applications: Apache/Tomcat JBOSS/ATG PHP/MYSQL Postfix/Sendmail Strong working knowledge of Internet networking technologies and principals including TCP/IP and DNS/BIND. Proven ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies. Strong operations management knowledge and system monitoring tools. Understanding of overall business functions and the impact of technical decisions on business results. Ability to understand business requirements for technical needs and utilize the business requirements information to prioritize work, develop solutions, and set urgency for others. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model. Ability to work in a team environment that requires a great deal of independent thinking and work execution. Exceptional planning skills and ability to work within change control parameters. Preferred qualifications include: Virtualization experience using VMWare. Prefer VMWare VCP Certifications. Certified as RHCE for version 5 or 6. Oracle DB experience as it relates to troubleshooting and support. Technical Lead experience or senior level escalations experience. Intel, AMD based blade server experience, using any UNIX or LINUX version. System management tools - HP Openview, HP Server Automation, HP Operations Orchestration and Remedy. Practical or educational background in development principles.
