Job Description Administrator: ITS Traffic/Data Acquisition, CISCO Firewalls, VPN, Network Admin LANWAN Routing

Job Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Work with approved vendors to resolve network related issues.

? Creates and updates all documentation as it pertains to the current state of ITS IT network architecture and new installations
? Functioning knowledge on how to connect public and private networks while not compromising network stability.
? Functional knowledge of cable standards, multi/single mode fiber, proprietary and standard serial communication protocols
? Planning and implementing future installations of network equipment and capacity planning.

? Engaging in high-level analysis and troubleshooting of network infrastructure.

? Performs all work in a cooperative and professional manner with other MassADOT Team members.

? Provides technical expertise, direction and leadership to other team members.

? Performs research and analysis on all requests for problem resolution.

? Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor.

skills / abilities:

1. Experience with designing, configuring and troubleshooting complex network backbones.
2. Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computer hardware and ITS traffic/data acquisition and control devices
3. Knowledge of serial communication technologies, MODBUS over serial/IP and NTCIP protocols.
4. Knowledge of routing protocols (e.g. EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, and BGP) in a mixed environment.
5. Knowledge of VLAN technology, VTP and STP protocols.
6. Experience in Access Control Lists, Cisco Firewalls, VPN technologies and other security technologies.
7. Solid understanding of network routers and switches.
8. Experience with data acquisition/control devices and sub-systems communications including but not limited to PLCs, RTUs, FACPs, ACPs, etc.
9. Knowledge of T1, T3, SONET, DWDM and OC technologies.
10. Experience with Metro-Ethernet technologies.
11. Experience in Network monitoring and management tools.
12. Experience in VOIP and QoS.
13. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to work in a team setting.
14. Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergencies or changing program or production requirements.
15. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of statistics.

Experience:
Applicants must have at least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in
networking of which at least two years must have been in work in which the major duties included computer, traffic devices, data acquisition/control devices and networking systems analysis.
