In addition to z/OS, install and maintain third party ISV software as required to support the mainframe software infrastructure. Hands-on experience with HCD, HMC, and WLM is desired. Monitor system performance and identify and make adjustments as necessary to maintain peak system performance. Problem diagnostics skills in a complex system environment are a must. The candidates must be able to work with customers and vendors in resolving software issues. Responsibilities include active participation in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documenting, and experience in this area would be desirable. Work with other internal support groups, insuring the environment is capable of providing service as changing requirements dictate. The candidates must possess not only technical expertise, but also effective oral and written communications skills, plus good organizational skills. The candidates must be effective working independently and with others with minimal supervision. Duties will also include serving as a mentor to other z/OS Systems Programmers. This position requires a minimum of 10 years hands-on experience performing z/OS (and its predecessors) installations and maintenance. Areas of focus: • z/OS Systems Programming: • Install, maintain and support the z/OS operating system and its components. • Install, maintain and support software from IBM or other vendors as required. • Plan and implement regular software maintenance updates throughout the year. • Advises other systems programmers and other technical users or clients on requirements related to mainframe processing. • Mentor Systems Programming staff to develop backup knowledge skills.
