CURRENT SYSTEMS / PROJECTS OVERVIEW

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking an expert Java developer for building, maintaining and customizing Java applications, APIs and web services for DSS. The developer will work with internal teams and system integrators for this effort.

Objectives for this engagement include:

Perform hands on development in building java applications, APIs and Java Web Services.
Identify manual activities to automate.
Review java code on existing enterprise applications and customize as needed to requirements.
To work with the system integrators and DSS teams to understand the business and architectural set up of some of the DSS Enterprise applications. Provide architectural support.
Create web services, custom widgets using native APIs.
To assist in the development of information systems blueprints, design patterns, templates for best in class software development and to ensure high levels of software reuse and the migration towards service oriented architecture (SOA).
To be able to interact with all levels of the team including business customers, DBA, software developers, design specialists, application developers and management.

SCOPE OF WORK

Number of Consultants needed

The project requires one full-time enterprise mobile developer, who is local (CT), for the duration of the project. The person is required to be on-site until the completion of this engagement.

Required Skills/Experience:

All applicants for this Statement of Work must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development. Please indicate knowledge and experience related to these areas on résumés.

In-depth knowledge and experience in Java, J2EE (Full Stack).
Expert in Native APIs and Web Service (SOAP and REST) development.
Good Understanding of OOP and SOA concepts.
Good working knowledge with SQL Server and DB2 database
Strong development skills – Java API for REST, SOAP and XML Web services
Good understanding of Enterprise Service Bus.
Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to provide extensive documentation as needed
Good working knowledge in Enterprise Application Platforms
Strong ability to work with technical and non-technical staff
Experience with SDLC and SDM principles
Understanding of Fortify and IBM App Scan.
Experience in Test Driven Development and testing tools and techniques
Well versed in developing monitoring/logging and error Handling
Experience working in VSTS and/or TFS or other source code management systems

Nice to Have:

Experience with Mobile development and/or Progressive Web Application Development
Good Understanding of Spring MVC, Spring Boot micro services
Working experience in public sector environments, specifically government
Development experience in force.com
Good understanding of JSON
SUN Certification
