Job Description Engineer: Web-Based ASP .NET Applications, Software Engineer, Designing Complex Software Solutions, Blend Visual Appeal Intuitive Layout Tea

Description:

The ITD Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has the obligation to provide a variety of motor vehicle registration services, operator licensing services, and regulatory compliance services as mandated by the Idaho Legislature and applicable Federal regulations. DMV has the need to enhance its printer management services for all credential printing performed in Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing offices across the State of Idaho.

The solution to be provided must interface with ITDs legacy IBM mainframe and Datapoint computer systems without imposing significant changes to existing legacy print processing, while providing the capability to design the formatting, layout, logos, and special functions on a .Net application server using industry-standard tools. The solution will also be required to use commercially available print drivers as supplied by selected printer manufacturers and installed on the application server platforms operating system.

The selected software engineer will work under the direction of ITD development staff onsite at ITD headquarters, using ITD equipment, methodologies, systems, and tools.

DESIGN
1. Identify a printer management solution design to include data storage, processing, reporting, and systems integration functionality.
2. Document solution and detailed design

DEVELOPMENT
1. Work with ITD ETS staff for any needed hardware / software installation
2. Develop solution database
3. Develop printer management application
4. Perform system Testing to include
a. Feature / function
b. Business configurability
c. Integration
d. Reporting
5. Work with ITD business unit to perform user testing of all system functionality.
6. Document system per industry and ITD standards

Required Skills:

o Client expects a highly skilled and experienced software engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience designing complex software solutions and who have the following skills:
o Experience working as a team to create a cohesive, integrated solution.
o Ability to work across mutiple platforms, systems, and technologies when creating a state of the art system that emulates certain characteristics of legacy systems.
o Experience with Object Oriented Programming and structured Common Object Models.
o Experience developing web-based ASP.NET applications integrated with Microsoft SQL. Specific examples are required.
o Demonstrated ability to map business requirements into discreet work items.
o Demonstrated ability to blend visual appeal, intuitive layout, and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces.
o Execution of the project must be in conformance with cleint practices and standards. Therefore, specific experience executing software projects with:
* Team Foundation Server 2012.
* Visual Studio 2012.
* C# programming language.
* MVC Framework Version 3 or 4.
* SSRS and SSIS
o All development must be in accordance with ITD development environment guidelines to be supplied upon commencement of the project.
