The HL7 Interface Analyst is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, testing, and supporting interfaces built between HT Labs LIS and various databases such as EMRs, Practice Management systems and/or integration engine hubs for the purposes of electronically exchanging orders, results, and patient information between systems. These responsibilities extend to working knowledge of the HT Labs LIS system databases which control system behavior, with particular focus on system inter-connectivity. ? The interface analyst reviews, analyzes and evaluates stakeholder HL7 specifications, understands user needs and documents HT Labs detailed interface specifications, conducts mappings and records translation table values, manages interface testing among stakeholders and provides support for interface change requests. ? Maintains advanced computer systems knowledge, with particular focus on Laboratory Information Systems, and Electronic Medical Records systems, and the interface protocols that govern their interoperability (HL7 or ASTM). Has strong skills in varied computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and particularly software related to laboratory operations and interfacing. ? Supports existing interfaces, verifying and maintaining accurate data exchange, and ensuring clients and partners have what they need to do business with us on an ongoing basis. ? Must work closely with clients, partners, and other system stakeholders to ensure interfaces are built and maintained according to defined client, vendor and HT Lab specifications. Knowledge of network communications, including understanding of VPN, FTP and other transport functionality. ? Provides support to clients and in house staff for these interfaces and related systems to ensure smooth implementation and ongoing support. This includes training and direction of staff and clients to guide them in understanding the function of the interfaces and to troubleshoot any problems ? Refers problems and unusual results to appropriate Managerial personnel. Makes decisions and recommendations which reflect appropriate level of analysis and evaluation of options. ? Responds quickly and politely to both internal and external customer needs and requests. Desired Skills & Experience HL7 Interface Analyst Required Skills JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: ? Understanding of HL7 interface methodologies ? Skilled in interface analysis, interoperability setup & testing of interfaces ? Knowledge of interfacing with various applications, management information systems, data structures, systems analysis and design, and programming languages ? Working knowledge and understanding of EHR, EPM and Health System workflows ? Ability to work effectively (maintaining accuracy and sensitivity) under tight timelines and schedules ? Ability to sense the importance or impact of issues and situations and take appropriate actions ? Ability to work from an organizational perspective as well as independently and as a contributing team member ?
