Job Description
The Security Engineer II will design, build, integrate, and support information security solutions and specifically for the Information Security Cyber Defense area (ISCD). This position has the responsibility to install, configure, tune and maintain a global implementation of Splunk as a log collection infrastructure, to comply with compliance and threat identification & analysis needs. The Splunk infrastructure will support the ISCD for identifying potential security threats, and the mechanism to manually analyze threats identified by the ISCD.

Responsibilities
Design, implement and operationalize a Splunk log collection solution for compliance, security visibility/awareness, incident response and risk management.
Develop process and procedures associated with log collection based on asset classification.
Manage problems, maintain vendor relationships, and assist operation with vendor escalation and issue resolution.
Maintain and analyze solution to ensure proper capacity, manageability and integration of new and existing Splunk infrastructure(s).
Analyze incoming logging events to increase the efficiency of processing and ensure accurate reports for auditing and internal customers.
Assist with event source configurations and integration with various security platforms, network devices, and systems into Splunk.
Coordinate with the Continuous Threat Analysis Center (CTAC) to ensure the receipt of security events from critical sources for identification and /or confirm suspicious activity.
Assist in identifying source inputs for monitoring, investigating, and analyzing computer network intrusions and integration into Enterprise Security application within Splunk.
Assist business owners to gather and interpret user/system requirements and develop those requirements into content specifications, collectors, filters, dashboards, and reports and to ensure content and solution meets customer requirements.
Must understand the business and technical requirements, architecture and design specifications and develop the associated collectors, content and documentation.
Works independently with clients and Sr. Management on information security issues and strategies.
Work with auditors to provide requested content to satisfy PCI, NIST 800-53, FISMA, SOX, etc. standards.

Requirements
Have a solid understanding of information security technology systems, specifically log collection and/or SIEM technologies.
Solid understanding of data networking, network protocols, computer operating systems, and computer hardware.
Knowledge of network protocols, data flows, vulnerabilities, and attacks within a TCP/IP environment
Ability to troubleshoot and identify network communication issues.
Ability to handle on-call duties in a 24x7 environment.
Ability to work independently, complete required tasks with minimum supervision.
Ability to maintain and improve skills through both structured training and independent research.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize and re-prioritize workload.

Preferred Experience
1 + years of Splunk administration or like product.
3 + years of experience with log collection design, configuration and implementation.
8 + years of experience in hands-on technical security control architecture, design, information security solution engineering, security technology implementation, and security service delivery role or related IT experiences.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience and/or Certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, ACSA, ACIA, CISM, CCSP.
