Participates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement. May require a bachelors degree in a related area and 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT: The intent of this work order is to supplement the DOR Support and Maintenance functions focusing on infrastructure and internet technology support. Under general supervision, the contractor will serve as support specialist reporting directly to the Network Infrastructure area of South Carolina DOR. General duties include managing Windows 2012 and 2016 Servers, Active Directory. Support contractor must demonstrate an advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, GPOs. Windows 2012/2016 and IIS. One focus of this position is to supplement the current Service Level Agreement in accordance with the needs of the Agencys application projects, migrations and related environment. These applications involve Internet technologies in Microsoft .Net Framework, Linux, VMWARE, Storage and related web enabled components. Must effectively research and provide guidance leading to solutions with our strategic direction initiatives, monitoring network infrastructure and security. Engineer must be a team player that ensures the stability and integrity of network, data and server services through monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all server and infrastructure systems. This individual has 24/7 on-call responsibilities shared with the group. The following areas of DOR also need assistance in support, but these are not a requirement to apply for this position.
