Description:

Project Purpose and Objective As part of the Departments Best for All Central platform initiative and goal to provide academic and non-academic supports for students in Tennessee, the we are looking for a vendor to extend a version of the existing customized Drupal Content Management Platform that is foundational to the Best For All Central program. The content management platform will manage the suite of resources supporting the academic and non-academic needs of students which would be made available to a variety of stakeholders such as students, families, educators, and community partners.

For the content, the Department has issued an RFP to obtain a vendor that will seek to identify, tag locations by available offerings, and verify accuracy of locally available supports, services, and resources. This vendor will compile information from across Tennessee which advance both the academic and non-academic needs of students.
The vendor will input that content into the platform built out in the this project scope of work.

b. Background Districts, families and stakeholders often describe barriers to services as an issue of awareness, availability, and access. The goal of this project is to increase awareness of resources, reduce barriers to access resources, and ultimately increase availability of needed services. Currently, available services are not located in one platform and require the end-user to navigate a multitude of inefficient websites to find options for resources. A mapping function will increase opportunities for immediate services.

2. Acronyms/Definitions

a. Best For All Central – the central portal initiative for the Department of Education to provide a single location for stakeholders to find information provided by the Department.

b. Drupal Content Management System – Open source, customizable web-based, Content Management Systems for deploying information and content

c. Content Resources: For the purpose of this work and content, resources can vary to different types. These are including, but no limited to:

i. Online Resources (web content, links, etc).

ii. Paid/Unpaid providers of services – including location information and the types of non-academic supports they provide

iii. Support groups, recurring event locations, activity locations

3. Scope of Work & Deliverables

a. Services Required

i. Expertise on development in/extension of the Drupal Content Management system.

ii. Ability to work across project teams in the same code repository

iii. Project Management to manage delivery of the enhancements

iv. Drupal architect working with the Departments Drupal team to manage delivery.

v. Adept at working in an Agile project environment and consistently meet

b. In Scope:

i. All functions outlined below will be based on the existing taxonomy model built within the Departments Drupal system.

1. Extending the Drupal Content Management System to provide mapping functionality of resources and display on a location map.

2. Ability to extend the system to determine a users location to start a search of resources.

3. Ability to create/extend the data model to store information and metadata about the resources.

4. Use all available data to map and search for available resources

5. Ability to create an import process whereby external vendors/partners/support organizations can provide a standardized format data file for the Department to import and show on the content pages as necessary.
