Description :

Under the direction of theBureau of Information Technology Services (BITS)Chiefof the Technical Operations and Security (TOS) Section, this contract position will function as a Systems Architect and Systems Administrator.

This position will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing DHS most complex computer systems. This team member will work closely with the TOS Section Lead Worker to maintain day-to-day operations as well. Advanced skills are needed in the following technologies: Directory technologies, Microsoft Windows servers and Linux servers, various database environments including SQL and Oracle, and web application technologies such as Citrix, WebSphere and .NET.Additionally, this position serves as an Agency Single Point of Contact (SPOC) providing, 24/7, third-level on-call support services. This position is part of a multi-member team supporting on-premises and cloud-based systems used to meet the business needs of DHS. The incumbent must be able to balance a large workload, manage activities that require high learning curves utilizing a self-managed work ethic, and be able to backup other team members to ensure the delivery of crucial applications.
Effective communication with management, service providers, vendors, team members, and DHS customers is extremely important. Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills are important to the success of this position. The ability to see things from an enterprise point-of-view is also key to success in this position.
This position requires strong leadership skills. This position is expected to work with minimal supervision; frequently assist others; work on multiple projects, prepare management reports;This position will represent DHS when working with the Department of Administration and other Agencies on State-wide IT initiatives and committees.

A. Analyze, design, implement, and maintain complex computer systems
A.1 Lead and advise on high-level technical initiatives and problems
A.2 Research, review, evaluate new technologies and solutions
A.3 Analyze the impact and effect of new initiatives and business requirements
A.4 Lead the design and development of next generation internal business systems
A.5 Design and integrate business applications and enterprise IT infrastructure
A.6 Provide expertise and problem resolution across multiple platforms and software
A.7 Lead and advise staff and management regarding system optimization, security assessments, metrics, and network impact as an integral part of all projects and problem resolution
B. Provide consulting, lead, and coordinate the technical integration of new secure solutions and systems.
B.1 Participate in the BITS/TOS technical architecture integration activities as needed
B.2 Participate in the Agencys technical integration activities
B.3 Participate on the IT Architecture and Process Team within the Bureau
B.4 Create, maintain and update architecture diagrams for all DHS IT solutions and systems.
C. Development and exchange of information beneficial to the Department
C.1 Maintain strong vendor relationships
C.3 Participate in staff meetings
C.4 Review industry trends and standards, and apply the knowledge gained
C.5 Develop and present training sessions to other staff to allow for better utilization of the staff
C.6 Participate on enterprise wide study and/or advisory grou
